Pink and Red Color-blocking!

Happy Valentines Day!!

Today I am linking up with Everybody Everywear to show you a pink and red color blocked outfit!

Pink + Red | Everybody, Everywear

This outfit was a little hard for me. Pink and Red is a fun combo but it is hard to do it right. I don't have as much pink and red in my closet as I thought I did. I wish I had a sweet pair of red skinnys, would have made this task easier! Check out what I threw together below. All I had was a red blazer so I apologize for a repeat!
Blazer:Nordstroms Rack, Shirt:Gift
Jeans:Joes
I have actually been contemplating pairing this shirt with the red blazer for awhile now. The flowers are pink and white so I thought it could be fun! I really like it what do you think?

Pink Shirt:Old Navy, Red Blazer:Nordstroms Rack
Necklace:Thrifted, Jeans:Joes
This outfit is definitely bold. I like it but I think it is too bold for the office. Maybe out with friends though?

Let me know if any of you have tried the look and how you feel about it!!

I hope you guys have an amazing valentines day!! Me and the Hubs celebrated valentines day on Sunday so I will have a post tomorrow about what we ate :)

Crockpot Spaghetti

So I made crockpot spaghetti the other night for dinner. It was delicious! It sounds soooo disgusting, and honestly doesn't look that great, but it is definitely a great dinner. The only thing to be aware of for this crockpot recipe is that it actually doesn't save you time, haha so whats the point right? The flavor and the crunch that you get from making the spaghetti in the crockpot is unbeatable!

The original recipe is from Reservations Not Required. Below is the recipe in full!! Enjoy!

Ingredients

Texas Toast

1/2 pound Ground Beef

1 Jar Spaghetti Sauce

1/4 Cup Butter

1 can Evaporated Milk

1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese

8 ounces Spaghetti

3 cups Cheddar Cheese

Directions
Cook ground round and onion in large skillet, stirring until beef crumbles and is no longer pink; drain meat, and return to skillet. Stir pasta sauce into beef mixture.

Melt butter in a saucepan over medium-low heat; whisk in flour until smooth. Cook 1 minute, whisking constantly. Gradually whisk in milk; cook over medium heat, whisking constantly 8 minutes or until mixture is thickened and bubbly. Remove from heat, and stir in 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese and pepper.

Spoon one-third of meat mixture into lightly greased 5 quart slow cooker. Spread half of broken spaghetti over meat, pour half of white sauce over noodles, and sprinkle with 1 cup Cheddar cheese. Repeat layers once. Spread remaining meat mixture over cheese. Top with remaining 1 cup Cheddar cheese.

Cover and cook on Low 4 hours. Let stand 10 minutes before serving. Serve with Parmesan cheese. Makes 6-8 servings.

Let me know if you make it and how it was :) Happy Monday ha!

1. My husband hit a deer on Tuesday night. That is not a high five, but I am beyond grateful that he is ok, there was minor damage to his truck, and we just got new insurance so we have an incredibly low deductible for repairs! Yay! Love you baby!

2. It was my baby sisters 21st birthday on Wednesday! We got to go out with the fam and enjoy drinks and shots, it was a blast!

forgot to take a b-day pic! This is from my bachelorette party before we were both 21 ;)
3. I am loving my bunny this week! He has been extra affectionate and he follows me around the house (he is totally a dog at heart), he is the worlds cutest pet. I am hoping to make a page soon about why a rabbit is the best pet. But for now, look at his adorableness!

Our Love Story

I'm linking up today with From Mrs. to Mama to share our love story with you!! Make sure to click the button to check out other great love stories!!

1. How long have you and your significant other been together?

This is so crazy, me and my hubs were highschool sweethearts. We have been together since 2003!! I was 14 when we started dating :)

2. How did you meet? {What's your "love" story?}

We meet in highschool. We had a few classes together, that's is how we "officially met" The funny thing is we actually grew up about 2 blocks from each other, and more than likely played together when we were little. We just went to different middle schools otherwise it probably registered with us! We also went to camp together once! I went with my best friend and she said to me one night "That is Henry, he goes to oakdale, he is soooo hot!" my response was "ewww" hahaha, true story!

3. If married, how long have you been married? If not, is this the guy you hope to marry? {do tell}

We got married on July 31 2010 :) so we have made it a year and a half!

4. If you are married, where did you get married at? Big or small wedding? If not, where would you like to get married? And will it be big or small?

We got married in Grand Rapids at the Calvin College Theological Seminary Chapel. Henry went to Calvin and used to play for chapels so it was fitting, and it is a beautiful building!! Our reception was also awesome, we held it at a contemporary art museum, Hen is an artist so it was soo fitting. We had a small wedding because we both have small families, we probably had around 100 guests.

5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another? Do share!

I have a huge list of nicknames for him! I use them on him and the bunny interchanbably, is that bad lol? I call him, peps (from tim and eric awesome show!), baby, munchkin (this is usually reserved for the rabitt tho) pumpkin, hen hen, ham, hamy ect ect.
If I am lucky he calls me babe, that's about it, my name is just so beautiful! ha!

6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.

My honey is an amazing man!! He is a strong Christian man, which I love. His sense of humor is out this world (he can get a whole room laughing when he wants). He is also a charmer, he is so sweet and thoughtful, to old and young (if i didn't only have to pick 3 I'd also say he is amazing with kids!!)

7. Tell us how he proposed? Or your ideal proposal?

There is this really awesome restaurant downtown that is on the 27th floor and looks out over the city. We always go there for desserts because the atmosphere is amazing. We went to celebrate finishing the semester and we bought desert, after desert he got done on one knee and popped the question! The odd thing was no one saw it, but it was great we had our own little moment!

8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day, or strawberries, champagne, and rose petals?

I would say he is a little of both! One year I got a teddy bear with chocolates, but we also love champagne!!  He is so creative, once he made me flowers so they lasted longer (and no he didn't find it on pinterest, that is what he said ;) )! <3 him

9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?

We are pop a movie kind of couple. We love just relaxing! We actually spend most free nights on the couch with a bottle of wine and we read The Walking Dead together, we are such geeks!!

A typical date night, board games and cocktails!

10. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your significant one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere?

We want to travel, travel, travel. As much as we can especially before we have kids. Maybe in a year or two we can travel to Europe!

11. Tell us what you plan on doing on this Valentine's Day.

I am excited for V-day! We are making a nice dinner at home and then we may be going to a concert! There is a free local music concert that night with like 30 bands playing, we may go see 1 or 2 of our favorites.

12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine's day?

I already got my Valentines Gift. I could still use a pair of Hello Kitty pj's from Target ;)

13. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love.

Be accepting and forgiving. I think we are so happy because we accepted eachother for exactly who we are, there is no use in thinking you can change someone because you really can't, you need to love them for EVERYTHING and when they make a mistake, because we all do, just forgive don't hold it against them, it is not worth the stress!

14. Show us a picture of what love means to you.

DIY Necklace Charms

I have a very very very simple DIY jewlery tutorial for you guys today! Also I am linking up to Bloggeritaville, Somewhat Simple annnnnndd Mine for the making!

I made a really simple charm for a neckalace! Next time you are at a craft store check the bead section for charms. All you need is a charm, a jump ring, and a necklace chain! I use a gold chain that I have had for awhile and just switch charms off of it. It is the wonderfully inexpesive way to get statement necklaces.

Need
Jump Ring
Charm
Chain (I use a gold one that had a different charm on it)

Directions
Attach the jump ring to the hole in the charm so that the charm sits correctly when you put it on a chain. I feel like it is redundant to write about this because I am sure you can figure it out, but it is soooo awesome you need to do it!

What do you think? Too easy, or too awesome? Haha!

If you make one please send me a link!!

Relaxing

Hey all. I'm taking a day off my blogging excitement to relax with with friends and family. We have a busy busy week so I am trying to spend time with the hubs when I can. I have some really great posts coming up though. Stay tuned lol

I realized I published this last night before I was done opps...

So this week is my sisters birthday so we have a lot of party's, plus my bestie's birthday is Saturday, plus H has like 3 work events this week!!! So my bloggin time is limited!

I hoping that I will have a new post tomorrow! I also am going to try and convince the hubs to get a tripod for our camera so that I can keep up with the pictures and I don't always have to  wait for him lol

How do you guys balance personal life with blog life?

Since there isn't an exciting post today, make sure to check out my wine tasting post from yesterday!! Wine Tasting Post

Wine Tasting

When my husband and I fist got married we lived in a dinky one bedroom apartment. It was our favorite place, looking back we can’t even fathom how we ate dinner every night for a year on the couch!! We are definitely sit down and eat over good conversation type people. So when we moved to a bigger apartment and had a huge dinning room with a bar (awesome, I know) we decided we needed to come up with a great “party” night to have our friends over and host in our dinning room! That is when I came up with the idea of having a wine tasting party. I told h-dawg and he loved the idea and it took off, we have one every month with different friends and I believe we are on to party #10!

I want to share with you how we laid out our party. I did a lot of research on how was the best way to throw a wine tasting party. It was actually really fun and I learned a lot!

The Basics

1. You need to select a region or type of wine to let all your guests know what to bring. We started with a free for all, everyone just had to bring a bottle under $10 but then you get too many different flavors and it is harder to rate them.

Our first party was a free-for-all
2. You need to decide if you want to do a blind tasting or not. We always “brown bag” the bottles of wine so it is a surprise what kind you are drinking, then we can vote on our favorites. This adds another fun element to the tasting.

3. You need some sort of guide for you guests to follow. I found a tasting guide (here) but there are a bunch to choose from or you could mix yours up to make your own!!
4. Last you should decide if you want to give out a prize. We always buy an extra bottle of wine for the person whose bottle ranks the highest! You never really know what your buying or if others will like it so it is just a fun lucky man incentive!

The people we invite now have been so many times I don’t remake my guides because I really am to lazy, but if you were gonna make a sweet party a guide is a must!

There are supposbly some “rules” to wine tasting, it is fun to print off a guide or read it to your guests. Some of the things really work!!

The tasting guide is a lot of fun. It helps spark conversation as well! Our first tasting guide came from Epicurous. They have a great PDF that you can download or type up yourself! They also have a few tips that are fun to follow. Although we did not pair our wine with food it is still interesting to read those tips too! Check out the guide <Check It> Above (under #3) is a picture of our first wine guides that I made, they were really fun but took a lot of work! Below you can see a picture of what we resort to now haha pure laziness!

I also spent a lot of time writing up definitions on note cards for more conversation starters. The definitions I got from Basic Wine Knowledge. I basically picked which ones I thought were fun. Below a picture of my "wine knowledge cards"

Last we followed a "wine tasting guide" also from epicurious. There are supposedly 9 steps to tasting wine!
1. Introduce the Wine
2. Sample
3. Look
4. Smell
5. Sip
6. Swallow
7. Evaluate
8. More Sampling
9. Discuss
Some of the descriptions to these steps I found elsewhere were so funny! It said not to be embarrassed if you make loud noises while tasting, so I was sure to try it ;)

Below are some more fun pictures from our wine tastings! I hope you guys try it out, it introduced me and the hubs to a lot of our now favorite cheap wines!!

Feel free to share the wine tasting tips, or copy my guides, just tell everyone where you got them ;)

PS. Favorite wine thus far is the Flip Flop Chardonnay, if you see it some where you should try it!! Flip Flop brand wines have one 3 of the wine tastings!!
