Thrifting Cashmere Sweaters!

I love thrifting! It is so fun! My favorite part about thrifting though is the amount of sweaters you have to choose from! I have a slight addiction to cashmere sweaters, partly because they are soft and actually not itchy, but also partly because they are so easy to find!

In my closet currently I have at least 6 100% cashmere sweaters, most of them were about $0.10! Average new cashmere sweater is $50.00 +, so it's a steal!!  Look at some designer ones below, there are so many outfits you can pull off with the sweaters!

Now check out two of mine! More (better) pictures coming soon :)

Do any of you own cashmere thrifted sweaters? Don't they rock!! I am hoping to do some more themed thrifted items in the future...stay tuned!!

Food Food!

Sorry for the weekend absence! When I told you on Friday it had been a long week apparently it wasn't over yet :( but I am glad it is Monday. Time for a new week!!

So lets face it when the week gets busy we go out to eat! Last week we only made one meal, yikes! So we are hoping we can make many meals this week!

On Tuesday we actually did cook! We made Double Crunch Honey Pork Chops from Rock Recipes Blog, they were soooo delicious! I served them with a salad, bread and garlic redskin mashed potatoes!

These pork chops are so easy to make and they really only take about 15 minuets! The sauce definitely makes this dish so make sure to have plenty. For my mash potatoes I boil redskin potatoes with garlic cloves until they are very tender. I then throw them in the kitchen aid with half a stick of butter and a little bit of milk and mix it until smooth.

Sunday Night I made leek pasta with shrimp, yumm! I loosely followed the recipe at Five and Spice {here}.
First I caramelized the leeks in butter with some salt and pepper. I then added a cup of chicken broth and some wine and threw in some shrimp. Lastly I threw in the pasta and coated it with sauce and I sprinkled the pasta with Parmesan cheese.

Below are a couple of food lust pictures of what I am hoping to make this week with our limited amount of groceries :)

What I Wore Wednesday Part 2!!

I'm linking up to The Pleated Poppy again to show off the hits and misses of what I wore this week.

pleated poppy

I tried to remember to take pictures of the cute outfits I wore for the past week, but sometimes I forgot :( so forgive me for only having a few pictures to share. I didn't really match any photos before I choose what to wear but I found some after I think actually matched pretty well! Don't you love that when you choose an outfit and see it on someone way cooler later ;) makes me think that great minds think alike! ha!

Let me know which one you like best!

Wearing: American Eagle Cargo pants, Old Navy Sweater, Baretrap Boots

what do you think about the cargo pants and the sweater? Is it a good fit or is the sweater too girly with the pants??

Not exact but close?
Wearing: Joe's Jeans, Thrifted Cashmere sweater, Thrifted polka-dot blouse, DSW Leopard Flats

Wearing: Banana Republic Pants, thrifted Cashmere sweater, chain necklace from anthropology

Wearing: Joe's Jeans, Banana Republic sweater, Gap T-shirt, NYC Vendor scarf

So what do you think? Not very exciting. Somehow all my pictures had disappeared so I had to take these in a rush! I swear better quality are coming soon!

Thrifiting Uplift - Ceramic Rabbit

You know how ceramic animals are all the rage now? Anthropologie sells this adorable ceramic rabbit (it's a lamp)
Well I told H-dawg about how I was seeing these ceramic animals everywhere and I wanted one for less price. Well at the Goodwill Outlet we found the ugliest rabbit trinket and I told him I wanted to spray paint it! It has been sitting on our mantel for months now and it still hasn't been spray painted ha, so now I am going to do it!

Side Note:
Has anyone ever been to the Goodwill Outlet? I think there are probably some in every big city. They are crazy! Basically you go into a big warehouse and dig through giant buckets and pull out things you like. They have everything, clothes, home goods, books, games, glassware. Once your all done they weight your things. I'm telling you it is cheap as crazy! At our GWO clothes are $0.25 a pound, and glass is $0.10 a pound. Can you imagine the things you can get for little to no cost?

So here is a before picture of my horribly ugly rabbit I spray painted

I decided to spray paint it blue, partly because that’s the color we have, and because it would go better with our house. Check out the after picture

I am not sure how I feel about this yet. It definitely looks better, but I think I should have used white. Although this rabbit has creepy eyes that show through the paint. I may just have to keep my eye out for a cute rabbit next time ;)

I feel like I haven't spent a lot of time on pinterest lately. I was browsing it tonight while the hubby was out and I found some awesome things I want to share with you.

I just got my hair cut a few weeks ago and I have already gotten a little slack on styling it :( so I was browsing hairstyles and dreaming of what my hair could be...Let me know if you have any tips or tricks on how to get these styles!

I have also been dreaming of new shoes and a new purse. Let me know what you think of the ones below!

Also I am really excited about this new red fabric I bought today. Hoping to make one of these soon!

Anthro-inspired Headband

Last weekend I had a super successful craft day! I finally got around to making an anthro-inspired headband I found on pinterest. My friend had some extra fabric and I just had to quickly try to make her a headband because she loves them (see this post , she really loves headbands!).

This headband was beyond easy, even for new sewers. It also only took about 15 minuets!

The original tutorial is from Sew Homegrown, which is such a cute blog with a lot of sewing tutorials. Jessica from Sew Homegrown found a headband at anthropology that she thought she could easily remake!

1/2 yard of fabric (cotton or rayon)
Basic sewing materials
6 inch piece of elastic

I didn't take step by step pictures because Jessica's tutorial is so easy to follow, just go here to see the pictures.

My friend preferred to wear the knot to the side so instead of tying it in the middle next time I would tie it more to one side so that the elastic is still in the middle.

Let me know if you make it! I have a lot of fabric scrapes so I am excited to make a few more!

Shellac Nail Love

So my girl over at Style of a Songbird told me about this amazing manicure, shellac. Has anyone ever had this done? I am in love! This stuff lasts forever, and through any imaginable wear and tear.

The first time I had it done I was so nervous it was going to chip. I even accidentally got spray paint on it. And believe it or not the spray paint rubbed right off and it never chipped, after 3 weeks!

You have to search around to see if a salon in your area offers it. It is basically the same as a normal manicure but they paint on more layers, and between each layer you have to let it "cure" under a UV lamp. The salon I went to had a really great color selection and they did a great job, and for only $20!!

I just went and got it redone after 3 1/2 weeks and look how awesome my nails look!

I got OPI Lincoln Park After Dark, mine are the darker ones! Love it!

I made so much food this week! I was so proud that we actually didn't go out to eat! I have a few new recipes for you!

Also I am linking up again! I am linking up my cucumber sauce recipe to House of Hepworths be sure to check out the blog and see the other blogs that linked up :)

On Thursday I made cheddar and leek macaroni and cheese. It is the grown up version of macaroni and cheese and it is so good!!
Original Recipe
There are a few changes I make to this recipe. It calls for 5 cups of leeks but that is a lot especially because I make a small portion. I used about a cup for our recipe. I also only used about 1 cup of milk rather than 3 1/2. The original recipe makes 6 servings and I cut it down to make about 4 servings, but you can do either.

The last major change I make is I completely cut out the eggs. I don't really understand how that works, and the disclaimer at the bottom of the recipe about the eggs possibly curdling makes me very nervous. It makes perfect cheese sauce without the eggs. Other than that it is so delicious. If you have never tried leeks you need to! They kind of taste like onions so they add a great flavor to the noodles!

On Friday there was a crazy snow blizzard so I didn't get a chance to go to the store to have falafel burgers like I was craving, so we had normal burgers. We did however have falafel chips and cucumber sauce (which I put on burger....sooo delicious).

I didn't do much special to the burgers. I put some garlic and onion powder on the meat as well as some Worcestershire sauce.

Check out these amazing chips we found at a organic store by our house!
If you have ever had falafel the chips are soooo good!

To go with the falafel chips I made my own cucumber sauce!! Find the recipe below :)

1. Chop a half of a cucumber and 2 garlic cloves
2. Throw chopped cucumber and garlic into a food processor with 1 cup of sour cream (greek yougart is better!)
3. Puree and throw in a bowl. Sooo good!

H-dawg said he prefers the sauce with more cucumber chunks he says it's more refreshing but that is personal preference.

Last I made a delicious salad tonight, but I don't have the recipe on me. I will update tomorrow with the recipe! I forgot to take a picture but this is what it looked like.
